Welcome to the #Europe @ EFnet website! This website is about an IRC channel called #Europe, which is hosted on EFnet. IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. EFnet is the first and one of the largest IRC networks and is like a virtual meeting place where people from all around the world can join together to talk with eachother. People can join channels to talk in groups or talk to eachother in private. #Europe is one of these channels, and that's exactly what this site is about. However, you may find some general information about Europe as a continent as well. How to join #Europe#Europe is a friendly, all welcome channel with a bunch of regular members from all over the world. Feel like joining? Go ahead and give it a try! The first thing you need to do is download an IRC-client to connect to IRC. An IRC-client is a piece of software that you install on your computer. Examples of IRC-clients are mIRC for Windows, BitchX for Unix & BSD based operating systems or Ircle for MacOS users. Many more clients are available for download elsewhere. The next step is to connect to an EFnet IRC server. EFnet is really the name for a network of IRC servers linked together, so it doesn't matter which EFnet server you connect to. You need to think of a nickname and probably fill out some other information before you can connect to an IRC server. In most IRC-clients you can connect to a server by typing /server servername , you can at least try irc.efnet.nl or irc.efnet.us. For the complete list of available servers, see the EFnet website. The final step is to join our channel. Simply type /join #Europe and say hello to us! ;) Just make sure you've read the rules on this website before doing anything stupid! :P |
